CyberSecurity Institute Launched

On November 30 the University officially announced the launching of the Seidenberg Cyber Security Institute dedicated to fighting cyber crime and promoting data protection.

Through internal interdisciplinary collaboration and external partnerships with academia, business and government, the Institute, as stated by co-director Bel Raggad, PhD, will become a “forum to propagate basic and applied research.” It will also address the acute shortage of trained cyber security professionals through the offering of certificates, degree programs, and ongoing education for managers and high-level executives.

The Institute builds on the expertise of the Seidenberg faculty, its 2004 designation as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education, the awarding of Department of Defense and National Science Foundation scholarships to students committed to pursuing careers in cyber security, and the numerous security-related courses, concentrations and programs currently offered by the school.
