Stuart Varden, EdD, was recently named a Fellow of the Association of Information Technology Professionals/Education Special Interest Group (AITP/EDSIG). This is the first year that the honor is being conferred and is in recognition of his “sustained, long-term, meaningful and effective support of AITP/EDSIG in its ongoing mission to improve IS education, help IS students, and foster the careers of IS faculty.” The honor will be formally conferred at a special ceremony to be held in Washington, DC in early November.
Dr. Varden has been active in AITP/EDSIG for many years, serving as president of EDSIG and secretary of the Foundation for Information Technology Education, the research and development arm of AITP. He has also assumed a leadership role in organizing ISECON, the organization’s annual conference, in 2000 and again in 2001. In 2007, he was named Educator of the Year by AITP/EDSIG.
Currently living in Ohio, Dr. Varden continues to teach part time for Seidenberg in the DPS for education professionals and in NACTEL for telecommunications professionals, both online programs.
