Nearly 200 people, including members of the Pace and professional IT communities, came together to honor Gary Butler, president and CEO of Automatic Data Processing (ADP), at this year’s Leadership and Service in Technology Award Reception. The event, which took place on Wednesday, June 22 at PricewaterhouseCoopers headquarters in Midtown, generated more than $135,000 for student scholarships and select scholarly initiatives.
During his remarks, the honoree commented that he was very impressed with what he learned about the many activities of the Seidenberg School and that Pace University was one of New York City’s “hidden jewels.”
New this year as part of the program was a panel discussion “Rethinking Business Strategy Amidst Cloud and Mobile Computing” moderated by Dr. James Gabberty, professor of information technology in the Seidenberg School. Panelists included Laura Wallace, general manager, NY Metro District, Microsoft; David McQueeney, vice president, software, IBM Research; Michael Capone ’93, CIO, ADP; and Matthew Knell ’00, director, social media, AOL.
Topping off the program portion of the event was a round of Jeopardy! which pitted guests chosen from the audience against Watson, IBM’s celebrated natural language computer.
