Seidenberg Research Teams Awarded Best Paper Recognition

At the annual Conference on Information Systems Applied Research (CONISAR), A Research Study of Cloud Computing Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) in Financial Firms was awarded 2012 Distinguished Paper Award; and at the annual concurrent Information Systems Educators Conference (ISECON), A Comprehensive Research Survey on Cyberbullying Perceptions at a Major Metropolitan University (i.e. Pace University) – Faculty Perspectives was awarded 2012 Meritorious Paper Award.

The Cloud Computing paper, a 9 month study involving industry survey and case study, was authored by Dr. James Lawler and Dr. Anthony Joseph of the Seidenberg School, Ms. H. Howell-Barber, an associate of the Seidenberg School Board of Advisors, and Ms. Supriya Desai, a former graduate student of the Seidenberg School.

 

The Cyberbullying paper, a 6 month study involving survey at the university, was authored by Dr. John C. Molluzzo and Dr. Lawler of the Seidenberg School.

 

The papers were awarded recognition from over 100 papers presented competitively at the conferences.

 

The conferences were held in New Orleans in November.

Seidenberg Students Win At AT&T Mobile App Social Good Hackathon

21 teams competed in the 36-hour app development competition and two of the teams that won were Seidenberg students.

21 teams competed in the 36-hour app development competition and two of the teams that won were Seidenberg students. This special edition of AT&T Mobile App Hackathon, produced by the AT&T Developer Program in coordination with the Social Good Summit, focused on building the next great mobile app for Social Good. It was held at Kaufmann Concert Hall during the weekend of September 22- 23.

Michael Cornell and his team, placed 1st for his app “Poll It Together,” which is a cross platform app using technology to leverage the android only s-pen SDK over a jquery app. The app is a similar to 4 Square but in addition to checking in you can instantly vote at location relevant polls.

Stiliyan Lazarov, who was “inspired and humbled by the creativity, energy, flow and all the wonderful concepts that came to life” and Miguel Toimil placed 3rd with their game “Droid Wars.”

A Word From Our Newest Career Services Relationship Manager

While Ani Lucia Lipitz is out on Maternity leave, I will be the acting Career Services Relationship Manager for Seidenberg. As a Career Counselor, I work with students in career exploration, development of life-long career management skills and resources to obtain internships and full-time employment. By getting to know you, we can find a match between who you are and an environment that suits you based on your values, skills, interests and personality.

Career Services is a student centered program that provides individual career counseling to meet the specific needs of each person. Through individualized attention, workshops, presentations and fairs students are able to learn more about who they are and the world of work. We also offer resume development, practice interviews, targeted job/internship search assistance, connections with professionals and alumni and much more! I will have open hours at 163 William Street, 2nd Floor on Wednesdays in October and December from 2-5pm, Mondays and Wednesday from 2-5pm in November. Starting today the Seidenberg school has our very own Career Counselor. Here is a note from our newest member of the Seidenberg Community.

Happy summer, Seidenbergers!

My name is Ani Lucia, and I am Seidenberg’s shiny new career-counselor-in-residence. I’ll be hanging out with you guys in 163 William a couple times a week to help you with all your career needs – from internship opportunities, resumes, and interview practice, to “Who am I and what the <bleep> do I do with my life?!”

If you haven’t found a summer internship yet, there still are a ton of opportunities available. Shoot me an e-mail (alucia@pace.edu) telling me what type of internship you’re looking for, and I can help connect you with employers.

Starting in the fall, I’ll be giving workshops from time to time that are tailor made to you guys’ and gals’ career interests and needs, so if you have any ideas or topics that you’d like covered, let me know.

Your trusty staff and I are in the process of planning an awesome Welcome Week event, so keep an eye out later in the summer for more news about that!
